Other boiler manufacturers are indeed pretty bad in this regard as well. Which makes that the bar is set very low.   They should stick to what they know, and that is making boilers/heating pumps. Leave the IoT and smart thermostat controls to companies like Tado, Netatmo and Nest. It's their core business and unlike Viessmann they do have the know-how for this.   But then offcourse Viessmann needs to support open standards, which they don't (at least not on the Vitodens 2xx/3xx) ... The requirement for climate sensors to get a correct temperature measurement is a prime example how things at Viessmann are purely profit driven, overly complicated, negligent and bad for the climate.   Together with the pure ignorance from the support staff this nicely sums up the business model. ... Competing systems always have some sort of option(s) to user-adjust the temperature. For example this is how Tado does it.   Viessmann didn't have this 2 years ago at launch, doesn't have it now and won't have it in the future. And you know why? @Hansi_Buentgens:   - Vicare Smart Climate does not support even basic functionality like an on/off shortcut. Let alone more "advanced" things like a per-zone timer (on E3 platform) or temperature offset controls. - When you talk about "comfort for the user". Maybe start offering a Vicare app that doesn't fail to start half of the time because of failing server connection. - Google Home is available by now (about time), but not the geofenced routines. I presume so clients are required to use the payed option through Vicare Plus instead. - Open protocols like OpenTherm or KM-BUS are not supported on the Vitodens 2xx and 3xx. So clients are being vendor locked-in to far inferior, for more expensive Viessmann products. - The most basic and important heating logic like making sure the pump and boiler aren't running when the valves are closed are not available in the standard (and already very expensive!) Vicare Smart Climate offering. You have to pay for Vicare Plus to get that "feature". - To justify your extra payed subscriptions you compare yourself to competitors who do the same (which is a bad practice). But you forget to mention that your standard offering is already far more expensive to begin with. - Everyone at Viessmann can look at my Viguide Portal when they want to. They can watch when I'm heating which room and so on. I know they do because they used that data in a letter written to me. I would suggest Viessmann to look at Philips Hue for a good example how it should be done.   The Hue system has a central gateway (much like the Viessmann OPTOx modules) but it does not require an active internet connection to control it via the home wifi network. The internet connection is optional and is used for controlling the lights when away from home and for software updates.   Next to that they off course provide close to a 100% server availability.   If only the R&D department was as good as the marketing department at Viessmann.... ... About 2 years ago I invested a lot of money into Viessmann heating products (Vitodens & Vicare Smart Climate), thinking this was an innovative, high-end brand.   I couldn't have been more wrong. I have never seen more flaws, corner cutting, negligence, cover ups and lack of communication than at this company.   The only thing they excel in is the chase for profit. It is borderline criminal how they market there solutions as "energy efficient" while the complete opposite is true.   Edit: as we speak I'm writing down my full testimony to be send to several local and EU government agencies and consumer right organizations. We are in an energy and climate crisis, this is not acceptable and starting to look very much like a new "volkswagen gate" type scandal. ... Mehr anzeigen

Vicare Smart Climate has been introduced into the market April 2020. We are now almost December 2022 and the system is still plagued with its original flaws and lack of features. Even more things have surfaced for which I don't have the energy any more to address. Nothing will come of it.   Viessmann is where technical excellence and innovation goes to die. ... Mehr anzeigen

The measured room temperatures are currently not being used to control the boiler. Even worse: the boiler does not even shut off once the desired temperatures have been reached and the valves are closed. It continues to short cycle! There is nothing "smart" about Vicare Smart Climate! Nothing but pure waste of gas, electricity and extra wear. ... Mehr anzeigen

Unfortunately there is no efficient way too connect Tado to a Vitodens 2xx boiler.   Tado can only work optimally when it can control the modulation and boiler temperature directly. It does that based on an advanced PID-control algorithm, contrary to the far inferior basic weather compensation from Viessmann. But to be able to control the boiler in a modulating way both the Tado thermostat and the Vitodens boiler need to support an open protocol like OpenTherm or KM-Bus. Viessmann does not support these in the Vitodens 2xx series. They choose to go for the vendor locked-in way route.   ... Mehr anzeigen

@CustomerCareChris    Could you confirm my statement to be true? This would mean that all recent Vitodens 1xx/2xx are affected since they have the 140mbar tresshold. Which is a very serious issue and would mean lowered effiency for a lot of customers. What good is a condensating boiler if you counter it from condensating? ... Mehr anzeigen

Only If you live in germany and you have an opto2 communication module and you dont use vicare smart climate and you are willing to pay even more for the subscription then you can have geofencing. And I’m sure it’s very subpar compared to google’s geofencing algorithm.   Like all things Viessmann it’s a fragmented, overly expensive mess. ... Mehr anzeigen

This is part of a long list of very simple to develop, very trivial things that are missing for vicare smart climate users. And have been for years.   Other things that come to mind are a simple heating on/off toggle, thermostat temperature offset control and per-zone timer. All things that should be easy to develop, the competition has them and users expect them. Yet at Viessmann this doesn't seem possible. The internal bypass is part of the problem which causes low efficiency on the Vitodens 2xx series. It has a fixed threshold of around 140 mbar. This means that in almost every use case the bypass will be opened when the heating is on. Even if there is adequate flow in the system. This bypass flow water mixes with the return water. Increasing the return flow temperature, reducing the condensation effect and hence showing higher then normal flue gas temperatures.   The boiler requires a minimum flow of around 125 l/h, yet even at the lowest speed the bypass will open when the flow dips below 680 l/h.     Like a lot of things at Viessmann, it doesn't make any sense. They should have opted for a better approach. E.g. a pressure regulated pump (like grundfos autoadapt) in combination with a smarter internal bypass that only opens when it detects that the flow is too low. Or alternatively no internal bypass and educate your installers on installing an external bypass with correct pressure threshold on a per use case basis.   ... Mehr anzeigen

I can see the Vicare thermostats in Google Home, and use them in a voice assisted routine. However they are not visible for geofenced routines (home/away routines). Hopefully this will become available soon. It's almost 2023 and the most expensive so called "smart" thermostats system on the market has zero geofencing capabilities. ... Mehr anzeigen

Something that almost all other systems offer. And off course Viessmann does not. To give one example: with Tado you can both adjust the reference device or the offset temperature   But hey with Vicare SRC we don't even get an on/off button. So this is really asking for too much! ... Mehr anzeigen

Don't bother. He is too busy counting his money. Maximilian Viessmann's net worth increased by 1.1 billion (yes with a b) so far this year. Yet here we are with our very expensive, very broken Viessmann products.   Must feel nice to get paid for making junk.   FYI: I tried contacting him myself through LinkedIn to address the many issues me and other owners are facing. Opening the Vicare app and hoping it will work is a gamble each and every time. And has been for years.   Before this I had a Nest thermostat for 3 years. During that time it was unavailable once,for 2 hours. And it caused an outcry on reddit, apologies from Nest and I believe even compensations where offered.   At Viessmann? Stephan,   Take a look here   The high water temperature you describe might be the same issue. The boiler keeps heating the water but can't dissipate the heat because all valves are closed. Hence the water temperature keeps rising until it reaches a point that the boiler will shut itself off. The temperature will gradually drop again because of heating losses in the system, pipes and flow across the (internal) by-pass. And after a while, still with closed valves, the boiler will start again and the process starts all over.   Vicare smart climate has been on the market since april 2020. Thank you for the information. I was also unaware that you could now add the Vicare thermostats to Google Home.   The integration however seems to be limited. For example you cannot trigger an "home" or "away" routine for the thermostats. Meaning geofencing is still out of the picture. Something I am able to do for e.g. my Philips hue lights. You do can adjust the thermostats using a voice assisted routine. Which begs the question why the former isn't possible. Classic Viessmann fashion. Hopefully this will be added soon.
