About pricing: here in Belgium the official listed price for a single Vicare radiator valve is 96 euro (including taxes). Note that (at least here) it is only available via licensed Viessmann installers. So no direct purchase from (web)shops. Basically this means no possible promotions or price drops. And practically always no price transparency as installers usually do not quote this individually or detailed on a quotation.   All the other brands can be bought separately by the end users in several shops. Absolutely unacceptable.   The vitodens 2xx/3xx are in the upper boiler price class, if not the most expensive. Yet every other manufacturer I know does not had to face such issue for the last decades. Just think about it... how was this ever acceptable for Viessmann? For Vicare Smart Climate users, who pay even more, the problem is even worse due to the minimum temperature being 8°C instead off 3°C. I really cannot in anyway comprehend this. In vicare smart climate mode the minimum temperature for some reason is only 8°C. So this means the cv-pump in reduced mode (at night) will always run needlessly when it's colder then 14 °C.   The means unnecessary energy usage and wear. ... Mehr anzeigen

In all other competing control systems, be it manufacturer-owned or 3rd party (Nest, Netatmo, Tado, Bosch Easycontrol, Honeywell Evohome, ...) geofencing and many many other features that vicare lack "just work" for all customers. E3-platform is missing a lot of things: no geofencing, no away-mode toggle (at least for smart climate), no childlock for the Vicare valves, no adjustable time period for manually set temperatures on the vicare valves, ... Given the price and that smart climate is now 18 months on the market, it is unacceptable to me there is still no away-mode shortcut or adjustable time period for a manual  set temperature. Those features are commonplace on competing systems and should be trivial to implement!   Does Viessmann really think all clients will ALWAYS be home at the set heating schedule times ??!   ... The houses you describe, i.e: modern, lots off insulation, airtight, underfloor heated, ..., are indeed characterized by slow reactions to thermal changes. Geofencing would indeed not be very useful. However at least here in Belgium such houses make up for maybe for 10% off the total market. Only the new and very expensive ones fall in this category. Maybe in Germany it's better, I don't know.   That leaves about 90% of the systems which would benefit from geofencing. My house for sure falls into this category. I know from experience it does. Also note that the Nest system was quite smart in this. It would not turn on geofencing the moment you step out of the door but wait for about 30 minutes.   But all off this is besides the point. It should be up to the client to decide whether to use geofencing or not. Viessmann does not seem to care that it is only available to a very limited amount of people. Nevermind that I paid a very premium price for my Viessmann installation. Apparently a Belgium customer is less important then a German one as I do not have the geofencing option here. And don't get me started about it being a paid subscription (for in the rare case it available). That is just ripping off people who already paid a lot. ... Mehr anzeigen

Viessmann is ages behind on this compared to the competition. IF you live in germany AND you have a very specific boiler AND you have a very specific communication module AND you pay an extra 25euro/year you maybe can have geofencing. Meanwhile almost every other modern thermostat has it included for free. Worked perfectly on my previous Nest thermostat. Now with my Viessmann system it's back to the stone ages. ... Mehr anzeigen

I've been contacting Viessmann about this (and many other smart climate issues) for 8 months. Off course you want to have some kind off very quick "away-mode" shortcut in your Vicare app to reduce/shut off the heating when leaving the house and no one is home. Every other manufacturer has this included for decades! It's such a trivial feature. Well...not for Viessmann, nope. Afaik they have no intention to add this. Let alone a time period control for a manually set room temperature. This just blows my mind. Basically they sell you a very expensive "smart" heating system which you almost have no control over outside of the set time program.   Concerning the child lock, apparently for some it is visible. My advise is to stay far away from Vicare Smart Climate and everything Viessmann related to that extend.   The company went from A+ reputation to total garbage for me in less then a year.   Other commercial systems: I would say Tado or Netatmo as prefered options for zone-controlled systems. Maybe Honeywell Evohome or Bosch Easycontrol but (not unlike Vicare) info on those is very sparse and limited to non-technical marketing bs afaik. For regular thermostat control I've had great experience with Google Nest.   Can't say anything about the API's, haven't looked into them. ... Mehr anzeigen

Update: unfortunately no more good news.   I've been told by the Belgium Viessmann management that new products are being prioritized over this by r&d. They cannot assure me anymore if and when any improvements will be made to Vicare Smart Climate.   I really get the feeling they just abandoned this product. Which is infuriating given the price I've paid and how inefficient is it with gas and electricity usage given the current energy prices.   Viessmann has lost all credibility with me. ... Also note from the things you mention the historic charts and reduced temperature based on geolocation and/or sensors is something that competing systems generally always include themselves in the product. Vicare Smart Climate does not.   Don't expect any updates on this from Viessmann. To me it seems they abandoned this system completely right after market launch. ... Mehr anzeigen

This is the absolute worst response.   The only correct one should be: "we are a premium brand, this should have been better from the start. We will fix this asap".   At least in my area you are the most expensive brand on every level. Claiming state-of-the-art systems and efficiency. This is a literal quote from the Viessmann website:   "The best way to enjoy ViCare is in combination with a Viessmann heating system because this simplifies hydraulic coordination between the different components. The switching times and temperatures from the different rooms are collected and forwarded to the controller, significantly optimizing heating regulation and making the whole process much more efficient."   In reality the Vitodens and Vicare Smart Climate systems are broken in many many ways. Off which the topic discussed here is just the tip off the iceberg.   In addition to the premium cost customers are paying, you have climate change and exponentially rising energy prices. I know! But it should!   In a full smart climate setup you know the set and requested temperatures + valve positions for each room. So now you can perfectly deduct when the pump should not be running! No need to constantly monitor the return heating water temperature anymore.   Apart from that, even users without smart climate should have the option to switch off the pump in reduced mode. Another complaint related to the infamous missing parameter 1240 (just do a search on this forum for "1240"). Another source of unnecessary energy consumption and wear. Another issue that is not being addressed. ... Mehr anzeigen

To switch between "hot water only" and "heating + hot water" you have to: open vicare -> settings tab -> boiler ->settings -> only hot water -> select the correct button (the wording could be different, I'm looking at the Dutch interface here, Vicare 3.6.1).   To me this is completely infuriating. Gas prices are increasing exponentially, climate change is real, Viessmann talks about "smart" and "efficient" everywhere in there marketing to lure in customers. Yet there is not a single easy and quick way to shut off my heating when I leave the house.   Every other manufacturer that I know has made this a priority. My previous Nest thermostat accommodated this in every way possible. Be it via the physical control unit, the app or geofencing. None off that is possible for me in the Viessmann Smart Climate ecosystem. This is insane.   What is maybe even worse is that 2 years+ after the Vicare Smart Climate has been introduced this has not been addressed. Should the Vicare app/system had been properly designed it should have been very trivial to add an on/off switch in the main UI. Really a matter off weeks to go from functional analysis, development, testing, validation to general rollout. And should have been there in v1.0. I've been addressing the issue that you cannot put the entire heating system easily in standby when in smart climate mode for 8 months now. From a functional standpoint this is very poor design, and nothing has changed in the 8 months that I own the system.   The workaround described here is just absurd and can cause a different (wrong) heating logic being applied. At least in theory the advantage of a full Vicare smart climate setup is that the heating logic knows the states (i.e. current temperatures and requested temperatures) of your entire house. And can control the heating optimally according to those values. When you activate "other rooms" it is basically telling the underlying software: we don't know the state for some rooms so we have to again rely solely on the cv return temperature to control the heating request. So basically a fallback to classic weather compensation, which is inefficient, slow and wasteful.   Now I said "in theory" because at the moment even in full Vicare smart climate mode it uses classic weather compensation. However they said this will improve in the future (again, waiting 8 months for something to happen here). So suppose this improvement finally arrives and you activate "other rooms", you will negate those efficiency gains.   The solution is very simple. Viessmann needs to add a shortcut in the main UI to toggle the entire heating off. When in Vicare Smart Climate mode without other rooms. ... Mehr anzeigen

Yesterday evening I've been able to get my Vicare Smart Climate components back up and running. To get this resolved I had to remove all components from Vicare, followed by a full factory reset for each component. Afterwards I was able to get them connected back to Vicare.   Thanks to Viessmann Belgium for explaining how to factory reset the climate sensor/repeater. Unlike the valves this was not mentioned in the manual. Only afterwards I did found out it is mentioned on the Vicare zendesk.   I'm glad I got this resolved. However it is very unclear why this happened. There was really no reason for this to occur. Also why is it so hard to receive even basic support? Luckily, due too other ongoing issues, I was able to contact a couple non-public email addresses at Viessmann from which I eventually received a response. From all the public user-facing support addresses (i.e. info@viessmann.be, vicare-service@viessmann.com, customer-care@viessmann.com, vicare@viessmann.com) I've received no response at all!   ...
