Several Home Assistant users, including myself, are having critical problems with the ViCare integration. I bought my Viessmann Vitodens 050-W last year, and the integration worked perfectly until I accidentally deleted my Viessmann account and then re-registered.
It seems that these problems have occurred recently, specifically impacting newly registered accounts. Your literature clearly states that the Basic API tier is free. Yet, anyone trying to use the ViCare integration with a new account is greeted with this log error:
--- ERROR LOG START ---
Logger: PyViCare.PyViCareCachedService
Source: components/vicare/utils.py:40
First occurred: 09:23:01 (3 occurrences)
Last logged: 09:23:02
Viessmann API denied access (PACKAGE_NOT_PAID_FOR). Features unavailable: (PyViCareNotPaidForError(...), 'Feature not available: User does not have access to given feature.')
--- ERROR LOG END ---
If Viessmann is now operating a paywall for new customers, the least you could do is be honest and inform everyone. People could then make informed decisions on whether or not to buy future Viessmann products. The only reason I chose a Viessmann boiler over a Worcester model was the advertised Home Assistant functionality.
Could support please clarify why newly re-registered accounts are being blocked from the free Basic API tier?
